1 – Do Your Research
Disney has most, if not all, of their restaurants on their website. Take a look! There are photos, menus, price guides and descriptions that will take the guessing game out of deciding where to eat. There is no better way to decide if a restaurant is a good option for you. This will give you a better idea about what restaurants might work best for you and your family.
2 – Make Reservations Early
If you are staying at one of Disney's Resorts you are able to make dining reservations 60 days prior to arrival - otherwise known as Advanced Dining Reservations - and can book for the duration of your trip (up to 10 days.) I can not recommend this enough! Non-resort guests can also book 60 days in advance, but can only book one day at a time. Take advantage of this friends! Resort guest or not, you can’t go wrong with making dining reservations as early as possible. You many need to make changes before you arrive but reservations do sell out frequently, so it is better to grab them while you can and make adjustments later.
3 – Ages and Expectations of Those Dining
Some of Disney World’s restaurants are geared towards children. They may have characters roaming the restaurant, lots of noise, large crowds, and high-energy. If you have children who want to interact with characters then yes, that’s perfect. However, if you have children that don't like characters or get over stimulated in loud places, that might not be the right choice for you. And that certainly would not work for a couple who wants a quiet romantic dining atmosphere. Whatever the case may be, think about your dining party before you begin selecting where you will eat.
4 – Keep an Eye on the Budget
We all spend a little more then anticipated while at Disney. But there is no need for that to happen with your dining choices. As I mentioned above, do your research. This way you will have a better grasp of what to expect when the bill arrives. Price guides are included on Disney's website, so be sure to take a look. Plan ahead! When you know what to expect and have it in your budget, it will not come as a surprise.
5 – Allergy - Friendly Options
If you are traveling with someone who has food allergies it is imperative to plan ahead. Disney is excellent at working with their guests who have food allergies. Be sure to tell the hostess upon your arrival about any allergies you may have. And if you make advanced dining reservations, you will be able to list any special dietary needs. In addition, the menus on Disney's website include Allergy-Friendly Items complete with what dietary needs they are suitable for.
Disney is such a magical place to spend your family's next vacation. However, it can be a lot to manage. Be proactive and make your dining reservations ahead of time so you know you have time set aside to eat, rest and recharge.
